The talk around town is...

Contra Costa County Community Network

If you haven't yet visited the Contra Costa County Community Network website at http://www.c4net.org/ then you're missing out on a great web-based resource that is all about Contra Costa County!!

The Contra Costa County Community Network, or C4Net as they call themselves, is a California nonprofit public benefit corporation made of of individuals who volunteer their energy to maintain the C4Net web pages and to hold periodic Internet and World Wide Web workshops at the new Cal State Hayward Contra Costa Campus.

C4Net's roots date back to the Spring of 1994 when 80 people met at Diablo Valley College to talk about their shared vision of an electronic community network in Contra Costa County. It is the mission of the Contra Costa County Community Network to facilitate electronic information access and communication exchange among people of the the community.

So, if you are computer savy, or are good with a word processor, have a modem, know your way to the World Wide Web, then send these folks an E-mail at: c4net@c4net.org and VOLUNTEER! I'm sure they would love to hear from you. An hour or two a month could really help them stay on top of the rapidly growing number of websites here in Contra Costa County.
